Baseball

Seth came to Miami Hamilton in the fall of 2010 and racked up a lot of awards and honors throughout his college days, but none more important than his Bachelor of Integrative Studies degree in 2013, while minoring in Economics. Seth spent 3 seasons from 2011 to 2013 playing under Coach Darrel Grissom on the Harriers baseball team. During that span, Miami Hamilton won the ORCC championship each of the 3 years. Along the way Seth garnered team MVP honors in 2011 and Co-MVP honors in 2013…which is a huge accomplishment given the other talent on these teams. He was 1st Team all Ohio Regional Campus Conference in 2011 and 2013 as well as Academic All-Conference in all 3 of his seasons with the Harriers.

His 16 career home runs and 105 career runs batted in both rank 6th most all-time in program history. For his three years, Seth managed a robust batting average of .362 during his time at Miami Hamilton. And his 7 sacrifice flies in 2013 were the second most all-time in a season.

Since his time at Miami, Seth has truly given back to the community. He has been a mentor at the Booker T. Washington Center, coached youth baseball for 5 years, and even went on a mission trip to Destiny’s Village Orphanage in Haiti.

Currently, Seth is the manager/Part Owner of Four Star Mechanical Inc. (a second-generation family HVAC business) and owner-operator of 5 businesses ranging from real estate to asset rental to subcontracting services. He has been married to his wife LeeAnn coming up on 7 years this May and has two daughters…Josie who is 4 years old and Lily who is 2 years old.

Volleyball

Jamie joined the Harrier volleyball team in 2015 after a stellar career at Lakota West High School. While at Miami Hamilton, she enjoyed the most successful and award-winning 4 years in Harrier (and Chief) volleyball history. Not only did she bring home numerous individual honors which we will talk about in a minute, but she helped lead the squad to ORCC Conference Championships in 2015 and 2018. And as she will tell you, it was never about her, it was always about the team and its success. However, tonight it is about her and we’re going to highlight some of her outstanding accomplishments.

Individually, Jamie is the only 4-time 1st team All-Ohio Regional Campus Conference award winner in school history for volleyball culminating in Conference Player of the Year honors her senior season. She was also Most Valuable Player of the 2017 ORCC tournament. She led the Harriers in kills and Blocks each of her four seasons while striking fear into many opponents (and teammates at practice) with some of the most powerful kills our gym has ever seen. Jamie was often the most talented player on the court, but also the hardest worker and over time became the vocal leader on the squad as her career progressed. Many times, Coach Sarah Dennis mentioned how confident she was going into their matches. When asked why she was so confident Coach Dennis simply replied, “Because we have Jamie and the other team doesn’t”.

She was not only a standout on the court, but in the classroom as well. Jamie was Academic All-Conference each of her 4 seasons. She won the Female Scholar Athlete Award for Miami Hamilton in 2018 which is awarded to the athlete with the highest overall grade point average of all the athletes... this is saying something since she was a nursing major, possibly the most challenging major we have at Miami Hamilton. Rarely are Nursing majors even able to play sports all four years because of the rigorous academic load they have to carry, but Jamie was able to do so and excel both in the classroom and on the volleyball court.

Jamie earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing in 2019 and currently works as a nursing supervisor at an outpatient psychiatric facility in Cincinnati. She also teaches at a medical assistant academy for one of her former Miami Hamilton teammates. As the weather continues to get nicer, you’ll find her playing sand volleyball all over Greater Cincinnati as well as indoor volleyball during the winter months. (Just some advice if you happen to play volleyball in one of these local leagues, try not to be on the receiving end of one of her kills.)
