Laura Collins
Laura came to Miami in 2001 and graduated in December 2005, with a bachelor’s degree, double major in Early Childhood Intervention Specialist and Mild/Moderate Intervention Specialist. She played Volleyball for two seasons (Fall 2002 and Fall 2003). She also served as an assistant volleyball coach for six seasons (2005-2010). In 2002 she was ORCC Honorable Mention, ORCC All-Academic (3.83 GPA), and the Miami Hamilton Best Offensive Player Award. She had the team high 68 kills and 27 aces that year. In 2003, she was the ORCC First Team All-Conference Player and again, the Miami Hamilton Best Offensive Player Award. While at Miami Hamilton, Laura also found time to work at Campus Kids, our on-campus childcare center. Laura currently lives in Trenton, OH, and received her Masters's Degree in Education in 2010. She is in her 9th year as an intervention specialist for the Hamilton City Schools and is currently teaching at Bridgeport Elementary, where she is also the head of the Special Education Department. She volunteers her time with the Joe Nuxhall Miracle Leagues in the planning of future projects and loves being an advocate for children with special needs.
