Auditions for Voice

Undergraduate Requirements

Perform from memory two classical works.

  • One selection must be in English, one must be in another language.
For in-person auditions, an accompanist will be provided or you may bring your own. Recorded accompaniments are not permitted for these. For videos auditions submitted online, both pieces should be accompanied. That accompaniment may be live or pre-recorded.
The audition will include a brief test of sight-reading, pitch memory, and an interview.

Appropriate audition repertoire may be found in the solo and ensemble lists published by the Ohio Music Education Association. Please feel free to  at Miami with any repertoire questions.

Graduate Requirements

Master of Music in Performance

Perform from memory five classical works.

  • Selections may be a combination of songs and arias and should include English, French, German, and Italian languages. Varied styles are also encouraged.

For in-person auditions, an accompanist will be provided or you may bring your own. Recorded accompaniments are not permitted for these. For videos auditions submitted online, both pieces should be accompanied. That accompaniment may be live or pre-recorded.
