Occasionally, you may feel there is an error on your degree audit. When this occurs, contact your Academic Advisor.

You can access your degree audit at any time! In fact, it is suggested that you look at your degree audit regularly in order to become familiar with your degree requirements.

To access your degree audit, follow these steps:

1. Log into myMiami using your Unique ID and password.
2. Once you have logged in, search myMiami for “Degree Audit.”
3. Click the “View Degree Audit” tile.
4. Click “Run Declared ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈÊÓƵ.”
5. Select “View Audit.”
6. Click on your major. If you have more than one major, you will have a degree audit for each.

You may also request a degree audit at the One Stop in Nellie Craig Walker Hall. A photo ID is required.

The “What If” degree audit, which enables you to gain information about a possible degree path, is available in BannerWeb by following these steps:

1. Log into myMiami using your Unique ID and password.
2. Once you have logged in, search myMiami for “Degree Audit.”
3. Click the “View Degree Audit” tile.
4. Click the arrow next to “Select a Different Program.”
5. In the “Program” box, choose the program you would like to view.
6. In the “Catalog Year” box, choose the catalog year.
7. Click “Run Different Audit.”
8. Select “View Audit.”

Please keep in mind the following when reviewing the “What If” degree audit:

• The information provided by this degree audit is not complete. It reflects only major requirements and does not include minors, honors, and other requirements. It also does not indicate whether the degree program has special admission requirements, is unavailable due to space restrictions, or includes the degree requirements that were in effect in the year in which you first enrolled at Miami.
• You are strongly encouraged to confer with your academic advisor about possible degree paths.

The use of color-coding and symbols will help you read your degree audit:

• Within each section:
  • The ✓ symbol indicates a requirement completed.
  • The ■ symbol indicates a requirement in progress.
  • The ✕ symbol indicates a requirement not yet completed.
• When a requirement is fulfilled, the ✓ will be GREEN.
• When a requirement is in progress (IP), the ■ will be BLUE.
• When the requirement is NOT fulfilled, the ✕ will be RED.

If you would like to see all of your information, click on “Open All Sections.” Use the Printer-Friendly version for a paper copy. Your degree audit is divided into several sections. Each person’s degree audit is different depending on the specific degree you are completing. An explanation of each section is below:

Information Header

At the top of your degree audit, you should see your name, major, and the type of degree you are pursuing. For example, Jane Smith, Mechanical Engineering, Bachelor of Science in Engineering. If you are currently in the University Studies program, are a pre-major, or are undeclared within a major, you will need to make sure you declare a major before applying for graduation. Your Banner ID number will also be listed here. You will want to make sure all of this information is correct, particularly if you recently changed your major. Some of the requirements listed below are dependent on what your major is listed as.

Colors

Three main colors are used in the degree audit charts and graphs. Requirements you have completed are green, requirements that are in progress are blue, and the requirements you still need to complete are orange. In progress (IP) means that you are currently enrolled in the course or are registered for the course in an upcoming term but have not yet earned credit for the course.

Pie Chart

On the top left, you will see a pie chart that is broken into either two or three sections. The green section indicates the number of credits that you have successfully completed. The blue section indicates the credits that are currently in progress and that you are currently enrolled in, and the orange section indicates the portion of your degree that you still need to complete.

Bar Chart

The bar chart located at the top center of the page shows your progress in particular categories of your degree. The most common categories in the chart are “Miami Plan,” “Major,” “Minor” and “Elective.” You can click on each of these bars to see your progress in each subsection.

General Requirements

ALERT! In this section, EARNED and NEEDS credit hours include your courses in progress (current and future registration). You have NOT actually earned all of these credit hours yet. See the end of your degree audit for actual earned credit.

All of the text on your degree audit is arranged from general information that applies to most Miami ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈÊÓƵs, to the most specific information that applies only to you. For example, you’ll see that the first requirement (in red) indicates that you need at least 124 credit hours and at least a 2.00 GPA in order to graduate. The red “X” indicates that you have not yet done this. To see more details about what the 124 credit hours need to include, you can click on the red “X” and details will expand to give you more information.

Miami Plan (MP)

All ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈÊÓƵs must complete Miami’s liberal education requirements, based upon the academic year when you started at Miami as a degree-seeking ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈÊÓƵ. For more information, choose the appropriate link below:

• Global Miami Plan for ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈÊÓƵs who entered Miami before the fall of 2023
• Miami Plan for ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈÊÓƵs who entered Miami in the fall of 2023 or after 

Divisional Requirements

These requirements depend on what academic division you belong to, along with what your major is in some cases. For example, if you have a major in the Farmer School of Business, you will need to complete the business core classes; if you are in the College of Arts and Science (CAS), you will need to complete the CAS requirements. In some cases, your divisional requirements may help you to complete your Miami Plan requirements as well. Please note that not all academic divisions have specific divisional requirements. If you have questions about this, please consult your Academic Advisor.

Major Requirements

Your major requirements and any concentrations within your major will be listed below the divisional requirements. Please consult your Academic Advisor with any questions.

Courses Not Used in Any Other Requirement

You may take certain courses simply because you are interested in them, and not because they fulfill any specific requirement. While you shouldn’t take all of your courses as elective credit, it is good to take courses you are genuinely interested in. The courses you are taking as electives will be listed here and contribute to the 124 credit hours required for graduation.

Explanatory Legend

This is where you’ll find the definition of any codes that are used throughout the degree audit.

Transcript Record

In this section, you will find all of the courses you have taken and the grades earned, including courses from which you withdrew (W grade) and classes you have not passed. This section will be a running list, by academic year, of all the courses you’ve taken and the grades you earned.

Academic Record

This section keeps track of the credit hours you’ve attempted, the credit hours that you’ve actually EARNED, and your current Grade Point Average (GPA).

Course Registrations

The bottom of your degree audit shows the courses in which you are currently registered.

There are different procedures depending on the kind of requirement you are requesting to fulfill:

• If your request is to fulfill a Miami Plan Requirement, Thematic Sequence, Senior Capstone, or Pre-designed Thematic Sequence course, complete the Petition to Modify the Miami Plan Requirements. Meet with your academic advisor and the Lead Departmental Advisor of the department where the course is offered (both signatures are required on the petition form). Submit the petition to the Office of Liberal Education (instructions on form).
• If you have studied abroad and would like those courses to fulfill Foundation IIIA Study Abroad, email your Banner ID number (begins with +) and the course numbers that you would like to count for the requirement (exactly as they appear on your degree audit) to miamiplan@MiamiOH.edu.
• If your request is to fulfill a Major/Minor Requirement, contact the Lead Departmental Advisor in your major/minor.
• If your request is to fulfill a Divisional Requirement, contact your Divisional Advising office.

• Students can request a Self-Designed Thematic Sequence by completing the Petition for a Self-Designed Thematic Sequence. This petition requires support from a faculty member with expertise in the field of sequence.

• A full list of Senior Capstone courses is available in the .
• Students can request a Self-Designed Senior Capstone by completing the Petition for a Self-Designed Senior Capstone.

You will need a different class to fulfill the requirement that is currently being fulfilled by the class you would like to move. Once you take the other class, the degree audit will automatically move the course you’ve already taken so that it fulfills another Global Miami Plan requirement—you don’t need to do anything!
