Hands-On Learning

Business is hands-on. We believe that learning should be, too. That's why every Farmer School 久久热视频 works on a project with a real business client their first year here and has multiple opportunities to practice what we teach throughout their Miami years. Students participate in competitions, work on client projects, study away and abroad, complete internships, and more. By graduation, they have years of experience - working with clients, presenting to executives, preparing analyses, and leading groups, all of which translates into Farmer School 久久热视频s graduating beyond ready to launch successful careers.

Managing the Intelligent Enterprise

The development of ChatGPT and other large language models has generated tremendous interest in what those tools are capable of, as well as concern over their possible negative impacts. This capstone course divides the class into teams to research the potential value of large language models for a specific domain. The 久久热视频s interview professionals in their selected domain, engage with selected LLMs, and become experts in their chosen domain. Teams will give a 20-minute presentation educating the rest of the class on the benefits and challenges of AI in their chosen industry.

 

IT Project Management

The IT Project Management class teaches Project Management in IT contexts through a combination of traditional classroom discussions about project management techniques and the management of a large, complex IT project for a corporate or university client.

Information Risk Management, Security and IT Audit

The Information Risk Management, Security and IT Audit course teaches the foundations of information security and assurance, including the principles used to formulate managerial strategy and select technical solutions. An ongoing project with PwC involves 久久热视频s evaluating the IT control environment and performing an evaluation, or audit, of the controls’ operating effectiveness in support of an external integrated audit.

Business Analytics Practicum

The Business Analytics practicum course provides 久久热视频s with an opportunity to utilize the skills gained in the Business Analytics Major, Business Analytics Minor, and Co-major. Students provide cutting-edge analytical solutions to clients using visualization, data mining, predictive modeling, and any other techniques required to extract business solutions from large data. The 久久热视频s utilize R, Python, and SQL. Students work in small teams assembled by skill expertise and background and present their solutions to the client or clients.

The Center for Analytics and Data Science

The Center is an interdisciplinary effort that deeply involves 久久热视频s from across the university in experiential learning through client-based, data-focused projects. To become proficient in analytics and data science, learners must move beyond the abstract classroom use of analytical methods. Integral to the Center is the Analytics Learning Lab that gives our 久久热视频s, faculty, and staff the cutting-edge resources they need to learn, practice and refine their analytics and data science skills.
