Research Bio

Dr. Zanjani joined ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈÊÓƵ in 2017 after completing his postdoctoral appointment in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania.

He received his Ph.D. from the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics at the University of Pennsylvania.

His dissertation work was focused on computational study of mechanical and thermal response of hybrid organic-inorganic nanocrystalline structures, and his postdoc research was in the area of micro and nanostructure evolution in soft-matter with a focus on DNA-mediated self-assembly. Dr. Zanjani’s main research interests are in the area of advanced materials with a focus on soft matter, phononic and photonic metamaterials, polymer networks, and microscale/nanoscale heat transfer. His group develops computational tools and models to study micro and nanoscale constructs.

His research aims to manipulate matter at the atomic, molecular, and colloidal level to design novel structures with enhanced functionalities for applications such as self-healing materials, energy conversion, nanoelectronics, and quantum dot-based devices.

Dr. Zanjani’s research involves many interdisciplinary activities and covers a variety of disciplines such as Mechanical and Materials Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, and Computer Science.
