Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)

Launching in the fall of 2024, the Miami DNP provides a pathway for the two newly proposed MSN degree tracks to seamlessly progress into a terminal DNP degree. The post master's DNP is designed to build upon prior learning acquired through an MSN program. The focus of Miami鈥檚 DNP program is to prepare advanced practice nurses for roles in organizational/systems leadership, and innovative and evidence-based approaches for increasingly complex leadership roles. This program will be completely online with the exception of site-based practicum experiences.

DNP Curriculum and Course Descriptions

The DNP program requires 36 overall credits. The DNP curriculum includes 24 credits of core courses including role seminars. An additional 12 credits are project courses focused on design, implementation, and evaluation of the practice/change initiative for quality improvement. Projects will use innovative strategy to create and sustain change at the organizational and policy level.

Fall NSG 712 DNP Role Seminar I: This is the first of three sequential courses focusing on the transition to the role of a doctorally prepared nurse. This course is concurrent with the DNP Project courses to share learning experiences with colleagues to develop intra-professional collaboration. 3
Fall NSG 702 Evidence-based Scholarly Practice and Inquiry: This course explores the role of the DNP-prepared nurse in addressing population-focused issues through scholarly inquiry. The focus will be on translating evidence into practice using designs and strategies for implementation and evaluation. Students will explore methods of data collection and analysis for data-driven quality improvement. 3
Winter NSG 706 Organizational/Systems Outcomes and Quality Management: This course focuses on the assessment of organizational culture and the development of processes that are responsive to the needs of those served by complex organizations to produce positive outcomes. The role of the doctorally prepared nurse in developing and implementing strategies to enhance collaboration within interprofessional teams is also explored. 3
Spring NSG 703 Planning, Managing & Evaluating 久久热视频/Projects: This course focuses on the acquisition of knowledge and skills needed for the assessment, design, development, implementation, and evaluation of effective programs and projects.  Emphasis is placed on the quality improvement of processes and outcomes within complex organizations.  3
Spring NSG 722

DNP Project I: This is the first of three sequential courses focusing on the 久久热视频’s DNP project. The focus of this course is on the development of the DNP Quality Improvement project proposal.

Summer NSG 724 DNP Project II: This is the second of three sequential courses focusing on the 久久热视频’s DNP project. The focus of this course is the implementation of the DNP Quality Improvement project. 4
Summer NSG 710 Finance and Economics: This course focuses on the analysis of principles and strategies related to finance and economics utilized by nurse leaders in complex organizations. Students will discuss the internal and external factors influencing financial planning and decision-making for organizations with emphasis on strategies that promote and sustain quality improvement initiatives and the financial viability of complex organizations.  3

Fall NSG 708 Health Policy: This course explores the doctorally prepared nurse’s role in the development, implementation and dissemination of health care policy. The focus is on health care policy that impacts access, delivery and regulation of health care. Fall NSG 714 DNP Role Seminar II: This is the second of three sequential courses focusing on the transition to the role of a doctorally prepared nurse. This course is concurrent with the DNP Project course to share learning experiences with colleagues to develop intra-professional collaboration. 3
Spring NSG 726 DNP Project III: This is the last of three sequential courses focusing on the 久久热视频’s DNP project. The focus of this course is the evaluation and dissemination of the DNP Quality Improvement project results. 4
Spring NSG 716 DNP Role Seminar III: This is the third of three sequential courses focusing on the transition of the role of a doctorally prepared nurse. This course is concurrent with the DNP Project course to share learning experiences with colleagues to develop intra-professional collaboration.   3

Admission Criteria

Application Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a resident of Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, or Kentucky.
  • Must be a US citizen or a US permanent resident.
  • A master's degree in nursing from a ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program OR anticipated graduation from a MSN program before the August start of the DNP program.
  • A cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for graduate coursework.
  • A current, active, unrestrictive Registered Nurse (RN) licensure with no disciplinary action in the state you are practicing in before the start of the DNP program.
  • Completed a college-level statistics course with a minimum grade of a 'C.'

Application Instructions

  1. Complete the application. Note that NursingCAS Supporting Materials section of the application is not required for the Miami DNP application. Miami Program Requirements are required, including license upload, CV, and three references.
  2. Request your official transcripts from all US institutions attended to be sent to NursingCAS.
  3. Upload a current CV or resume to NursingCAS.
  4. Request three letters of recommendation through the NursingCAS recommender portal. (2 professional and 1 academic preferred).
  5. A 1-3 page, double-spaced, personal statement describing the reasons for seeking doctoral study and how the DNP will contribute to your short and long-term professional goals.

Accreditation

The Doctor of Nursing Practice program at 久久热视频 is pursuing initial accreditation by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (). Applying for accreditation does not guarantee that accreditation will be granted.
