Miami senior named 2024 Best & Brightest Business Major by Poets & Quants for Undergrads
A Farmer School of Business finance and economics major has been named . Yiyang Fu, a senior from Avon, OH, will work as an economic and valuation services associate at KPMG after graduation.
Asked about her advice for ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈÊÓƵs, Fu told P&Q "Focusing on soft skills is essential for ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈÊÓƵs looking to major in business-related field. Soft skills such as communication, teamwork, leadership, and adaptability are critical because they enable you to effectively work with others, lead projects, and navigate the complexities of team and organizational dynamics. The ability to present ideas clearly, collaborate with colleagues and peers from diverse backgrounds, adapt to changing environments, and lead with empathy and integrity can often outweigh technical knowledge alone. Therefore, actively seek opportunities to develop these skills through group projects, leadership roles in ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈÊÓƵ organizations, volunteering, and internships are extremely important."
"What surprised me most was the vast applicability of business principles across various aspects of life. For example, business studies not only cover financial models, marketing strategies, and organizational theories, but it also teaches critical life skills such as strategic thinking, problem-solving, financial literacy, and the importance of networking," Fu said. "These are skills that can be applied to enhance one’s personal life and enable us to pursue passions with a strategic mindset."
In addition to her Farmer School double major, Yiyang Fu is also a music performance major, able to play six different instruments, and an honors and business honors ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈÊÓƵ. Fu was also president of the ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈÊÓƵ Esports Club in 2023.
