Why Miami?
Like many of the ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈÊÓƵs who attend Miami, when I toured this campus, it felt like home. Throughout my high school career, I was extremely involved in extra curricular, and Miami was a place that offered so much to get involved in (including undergraduate research, something I was interested in). After my first tour, I knew Miami was the place for me.
How did you choose your major?
I originally came to Miami as a Diplomacy and Global Politics Major, but soon realized I was especially passionate about American Politics. Additionally, I loved public relations and decided to pursue that passion through an individualized studies major.
Key Moment at Miami
I have had many classes that have shaped my life, but I have felt the most significant impact from professors who have helped me along the way. Dr. Monica Schneider has had me as a ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈÊÓƵ since my first year of college. Not only have I loved every one of her classes, but she has helped me find my passions throughout my time here. She connected me to my first research opportunity with Dr. Anne Whitesell, and I now am lucky to be working with her on research as well. Dr. Schneider and Dr. Whitesell have helped me follow my passions at this university, and I couldn't be more grateful.
Other Notable Experience
Working as an undergraduate research assistant has probably had the most meaningful effect on my life as a ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈÊÓƵ here. I never knew research was something I would enjoy until I became an assistant for Dr. Anne Whitesell. I am extremely passionate about every project I have worked on. These experiences have truly opened my eyes to different social and cultural groups I knew very little about.
Advice to Prospective Students
I would tell them of the relationships I have formed at this school. I have not only made friends for life and have met many of them through my activities at school but made connections with professors that will last a lifetime. Everyone I have met at Miami has been part of my support system, and I could not be more grateful! Miami has made me, me!
What are your career goals?
After graduation, I am planning on attending law school! I hope to work in Washington, DC, following law school, likely working on campaigns or lobbying. I am extremely passionate about politics and hope to remain in the political sphere after graduating with a juris doctor.
Other Roles I Have Taken On
I am on the leadership teams for four organizations here at Miami, including Alpha Delta Pi, Bridges Scholars, Ignite, and Miami Service Alliance. These opportunities have truly helped me build leadership skills and form friendships with other members.
