Molly Hearsch, Advice for Perspective Students

Why Miami?

the anthropology program and the equestrian program. I knew I wanted to study anthropology and the fact that Miami also had an archaeology minor was really instrumental to me picking Miami. Miami also has one of the best equestrian programs in the entire country and was by far the best fit for me and what I knew I wanted to do.

How did you choose your major?

I knew what I wanted to do and being here and experiencing what the major has to offer has sealed the deal. I know what I want to do and I have opportunities to do things like what I hope to do as a job later in life here.

Key Moment at Miami

I took two classes with Dr. Card last semester and fully realized that I knew what I wanted to do with my life. I talked to Dr. Card and he was so helpful and encouraging and I have learned so, so much from him. I also got the opportunity to join SQUAD and work with him and I love it. I'm doing things that will help me get a job after college and I am genuinely so happy with my college experience.

Other Notable Experience

I haven't studied abroad yet but I plan to later on and I am excited about it. But for things that I have done Medieval Club has really positively influenced me. It is a safe place to nerd out and I have met some of the best people there. I am getting exercise, having fun, and making friends all at once.

Advice to Prospective Students

DO IT! This place is so beautiful and so welcoming and you will meet so many wonderful people here. the professors really want to see you succeed and there are so many opportunities for unique experiences and connections. The campus is gorgeous and the amenities and buildings are fantastic. You won't regret it. It really feels like home.

What are your career goals?

I plan to go to grad school for archaeology. After that, I want to spend a few years working in the field and making discoveries. I will then potentially work for a museum or other preservation-based organization and dedicate my career to discovering and understanding human history and those that came before us.
